Let kids sing math
The ancient Greeks knew the world was round and calculated the circumference of the earth without modern equipment. They observed that at midday on the summer solstice, there was a place where nothing cast a shadow and a few hundred kilometers away, there was a place where something did cast a shadow. By looking at the length of the shadow, a simple calculation using similar triangles provided an estimate of the earth's circumference, which was only two or three percent off. This simple deduction made by a man with just a brain and a stick demonstrates the power of simple things. Similarly, teaching math should be like teaching music to kids. Instead of focusing on complex theories, children should learn basic concepts and find them interesting, which would lead them to want to learn more.
