William Keith Hancock

Sir William Keith Hancock was a renowned Australian historian, born in Melbourne in 1898. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, held various prestigious academic positions, including Professor of History at the University of Adelaide, Birmingham University, and Oxford University, and was the founding Director of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies. He was knighted in 1953 and served as the first President of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
