Virgil

Roman poet, best known for his epic poems, particularly the Aeneid. He lived during the 1st century BC and was commissioned by Emperor Augustus to write the Aeneid as a patriotic project to glorify Rome’s mythical origins and legitimize the rule of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
