Thomas Earl Starzl

Thomas Earl Starzl was a renowned American physician and surgeon known for pioneering liver transplantation. He grew up in LeMars, Iowa, and earned both an M.D. and a PhD from Northwestern University Medical School. Starzl performed the world's first human liver transplant in 1963 and continued to innovate in the field of transplantation throughout his career.
