Sir George Tomkyns Chesney

Sir George Tomkyns Chesney was a British Army general, politician, and writer of fiction. He is best known for his novella 'The Battle of Dorking', a founding work in the genre of invasion literature. Chesney had a distinguished military career, including service in the Indian rebellion of 1857 and the establishment of the Royal Indian Civil Engineering College. He was also a frequent contributor to periodical literature and published several novels.
