Kidada E. Williams

Kidada E. Williams is a professor of history at Wayne State University, specializing in African American history and racist violence. She is the author of They Left Great Marks on Me, co-editor of Charleston Syllabus, and former host of the Seizing Freedom podcast. Her work has been recognized with the 2024 Organization of American Historians’ Civil War and Reconstruction Book Award and a longlist for the 2023 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
