John D. Billings

John D. Billings was a veteran of the 10th Massachusetts Volunteer Light Artillery Battery in the American Civil War. He is best known for his memoir 'Hard Tack and Coffee', which provides a detailed account of everyday life for Union soldiers during the Civil War.
