Isabella Reinhardt

Isabella Reinhardt, assistant professor of classics focused on Homeric literature, unpacks the Odyssey as a story of home, identity, and civic belonging. She explores warriors returning from war, Homeric ethics of cunning versus excess, female agency and troubling scenes of slavery, and what an adaptation must keep when updating the poem for modern audiences.

Alexandra August, an indie podcast producer and pop-culture commentator, and Isabella Reinhardt, a classicist and Greek mythology scholar, dig into Madeline Miller’s Circe. They trace classical Easter eggs, debate gods’ fecklessness, explore Circe’s craft versus divine gifts, and argue about mortality, feminist echoes, and why retellings reframe sidelined women.
