Gavan Daws

Gavan Daws is an Australian historian and author. Born in 1933 in Shepparton, Victoria, Australia, he is the son of two school teachers. Daws holds a B.A. from the University of Melbourne and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii. He has worked as a reporter, a professor of history at the University of Hawaii, and at the Australian National University. His work spans various genres including general history, military history, biographies, and books on the environment and politics.
