Ezra (the Scribe)

Ezra was a Jewish priest, scribe, and scholar, traditionally credited as the author of the biblical Book of Ezra. He was a direct descendant of Aaron and played a key role in leading the second group of Jewish exiles back to Jerusalem from Babylon during the reign of King Artaxerxes of Persia. Ezra is also known for his efforts to restore religious practices and enforce the Torah among the returning Israelites.
