Cesare Bonesana di Beccaria

Cesare Bonesana di Beccaria, marquis of Gualdasco and Villaregio (1738-94), was an Italian philosopher and jurist. He is best known for his influential treatise 'On Crimes and Punishments', which was a foundational work in the field of penology and advocated for legal reform based on Enlightenment principles.
