August Wilson was an American playwright and the author of the Pittsburgh Cycle, a series of ten plays that chronicle the African American experience in each decade of the 20th century. He is best known for his works such as 'Fences' and 'The Piano Lesson', for which he won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1990.
