Anton de Kom

Anton de Kom (1898–1945) was a Surinamese anti-colonial writer, activist, and resistance hero. Born in Paramaribo, Suriname, he was the son of a former slave. De Kom was a key figure in the fight against colonialism and racism, and he wrote extensively on the history and exploitation of Suriname. He was also a trade unionist and a World War II resistance fighter.
