Ana Maria Gonçalves

Ana Maria Gonçalves is a Brazilian writer born in Ibiá, Minas Gerais, in 1970. She was a professor of English and a publicist in São Paulo before dedicating herself full-time to writing. She has published several works, including her first novel 'Ao lado e à margem do que sentes por mim' and the acclaimed 'Um defeito de cor', for which she won the Casa de las Américas Prize in 2007. As of 2019, she lives in New Orleans and has been a writer in residence at several universities.
