Abu'l Qasim Firdausi (Ferdowsi)

A Persian poet born in the town of Tus, northeastern Iran, around 940 AD. He is celebrated as the most influential figure in Persian literature and one of the greatest in the history of literature. Ferdowsi devoted over 35 years to composing the Shahnameh, which is the national epic of Greater Iran.
