Ceasefire Deal Between Israel and Hezbollah

Israel has approved a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah, aiming to end over a year of cross-border violence which has resulted in significant casualties on both sides. Lebanon reported that more than 3,500 Lebanese have died, and close to a million have been displaced, reflecting the dire humanitarian situation. Key elements of the deal include the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon and the movement of Hezbollah forces north of the Litani River. The U.S. will monitor the ceasefire, and both sides appear to have strong incentives to adhere to the agreement, although its sustainability remains uncertain.
