'23 was a big year for political recalls
On this episode: Recall expert Josh Spivak joins Host Victoria Rose to take a look back at what turned out to be an eventful year for political recalls. Ballotpedia’s year-end recall report found that 18.31% of elected officials targeted for recalls in 2023 were removed from office–the highest percentage of successful recalls since 2018.
Joshua Spivak is Senior Research Fellow at Berkeley Law's California Constitution Center and at the Hugh L. Carey Institute at Wagner College. He is the publisher of the Recall Elections Blog and author of the 2021 book, “Recall Elections: From Alexander Hamilton to Gavin Newsom.”
