Ubuntu plans an immutable desktop distro. GNOME updates include a flatpak syncing tool, revamped System panel, potential light theme, and fractional scaling support. Linux Mint 21.2 will bring touchpad gestures. Portals will work better with all DEs or tiling WMs. The Linux Foundation pushes RISC-V hard.
