Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) recently achieved a significant milestone with the installation of the Cryostat Base, a 24-foot, 75-ton component that forms the foundation of its Spark demonstration reactor. This device is critical in the construction of the tokamak, which aims to be the first fusion reactor to produce more power than it consumes. The project has been in development for over three years at CFS's site in Massachusetts, marking a transition from building an industrial facility to constructing the actual fusion core itself.
