š“281. My Anti-Trend Travel Choice
In todayās off-the-cuff travel chat, Iām diving into something Iāve been obsessing over lately: carry-on luggage. After my trusty old suitcase zip finally gave up on my flight home from Melbourne, I went down a deep rabbit hole comparing July, Antler, and a surprising dark horse ā Kathmandu.
I share:
āļø Why Iām done with hard shell suitcases (and the Mumbai hotel porter who convinced me years ago).
š¼ How much suitcase weight really matters when your carry-on limit is only 7ā10kg.
š§³ Why I chose the Kathmandu Feather Flight Carry-On ā a hybrid wheelie bag that weighs only 1.6kg and fits 40L (thatās half the weight of a July bag!).
šø What I prioritise now when buying travel gear: function over fashion.
š§ And a bigger reflection ā just because 90% of people are doing something (hello, hard shell suitcases!) doesnāt mean itās the right thing for you.
This episode isnāt just about luggage. Itās a reminder to question the mainstream, do your own research, and buy (or live) according to your own values.
Iāll report back on how the Feather Flight performs ā especially on the European convertible tour next year, where I need something that can actually fit in the boot.
š§ Question for you: Whatās your travel gear of choice? Are you team hard shell, soft shell, or backpack life?
