Mike has owned and operated CrossFit Malibu since he opened it in 2009. He is a ’92 graduate of the Pepperdine University sports medicine program, where he also ran cross country and played club soccer. A credentialed teacher with experience teaching in the classroom and on the playing field, he also has masters degrees in outdoor education and public health. Mike learned the Olympic lifts from a colleague when working at Pepperdine while he was the coordinator and an instructor in the physical education department from 2001-2005. The joys of mixing heavy lifting with bodyweight movements and other skills via CrossFit began in 2008. He eats ice cream and loves spending time with his wife and twins.
