Deep dives
Ares, the Unpopular God of War
Ares, the God of War, is not well-liked by the Greek people or the other gods. While he represents ferociousness in battle and violence, he lacks the qualities associated with strategic warfare and leadership that Athena embodies. Ares' unpopularity stems from his volatile behavior and reputation as a coward. One famous myth involving Ares portrays his secret affair with Aphrodite, which led to humiliation and his subsequent shunning by the other gods.
The Reign of the Eloidae Giants
Otis and Effialtis, also known as the Eloidae giants, were invulnerable beings who desired to take over Mount Olympus and pursue their romantic interests in Artemis and Hera. Their inability to be harmed or stopped by gods or mortals posed a significant challenge for the Olympians. Ares, known for his recklessness, attempted to fight the giants but was ultimately captured and imprisoned in a bronze jar by them. The giants continued their ascent, creating chaos until Apollo and Artemis devised a plan to incite conflict between the brothers, resulting in their own demise.
Artemis' Ingenious Plan
Artemis played a crucial role in the defeat of the Eloidae giants. She skillfully evaded the giants' attacks and allowed them to fight each other, leveraging their crushes on her and their weaknesses. Apollo aided her by transforming Artemis into a doe, diverting the giants' spears and causing them to strike each other instead. This unexpected turn of events led to the giants' ultimate defeat and restored order to Mount Olympus. The gods were immensely grateful to Artemis and Apollo for their ingenious plan and celebrated their bravery.
