Headteachers in England have been handed advice on how to ban mobile phones from school classrooms. Guidance issued by the UK government includes how to search students and their bags for devices "if necessary". Headteachers "can and should identify mobile phones and similar devices as something that may be searched for in their school behaviour policy," it says.
To discuss this, Richie is joined by Katie. Katie is a mother of two teenage girls. She is completely opposed to the phone ban and tells Richie that on at least two occasions her children could have been seriously harmed at school were it not for the fact that they had access to a mobile phone.
Katie has worked in schools as a behavioural therapist and special needs assistant. Parents, do not miss this.
