History of Modern Greece 010: Archaic Greece: Part One: The Birth of the Polis*
In this episode we discuss how the Phoenician Alphabet made its way to the Archaic Greek people, and how they instantly organized themselves into Polis States, and then overpopulated the tiny valleys they lived in which forced the more prosperous Polis' to fund expiations into the Mediterranean Sea to found colonies and spread throughout the sea, like lily pads in a pond. We will discuss all the major Greek City states, where they are located, and also a little history surrounding their founding mythology.
The History of Modern Greece covers the events of the Greek People from the fall of Constantinople in 1453, to the Greek War of Independence in 1821-1832, all the way through to the Greco-Turkish War from 1919 to 1922.
