In 1989, Cameron Crowe made his directorial debut with what many consider to be one of his best films, "Say Anything..." It wasn't one of the top films at the box office that year, but it certainly found its audience since then and is still hailed by many to be one of the great romantic films out there. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we talk about Crowe's first film. We discuss our memories of the film when it first came out and compare it with our feelings about it today — interestingly, neither of us feel that strongly about the film anymore. We chat about the amazing roster of talent, not just in the big roles but also the supporting roles and cameos all through the film, and look at what works and what doesn't. We discuss the problems we have with the film now — notably the subplot with Diane's dad and his troubles with the IRS — and try to analyze what it is about them that's not working. And we talk about how the film uses Seattle, the city in which it was filmed, in comparison with other films, notably "Sleepless in Seattle." It's a film we found ourselves remembering more fondly for what it once meant to us rather than what it does for us today, but we have a great time talking about it. Tune in! Hey! You know what would be awesome? If you would drop us a positive rating on iTunes! If you like what we’re doing here on TNR, it really is the best way to make sure that this show appears when others search for it, plus, it’s just a nice thing to do. Thanks!!
