Mrs. Bennet eagerly anticipates Mr. Bingley's arrival, only to discover a stranger, Mr. Collins, will be joining their family. Mr. Collins, a clergyman, presents himself as a well-meaning peace-maker, seeking to mend past disputes regarding the entail of the estate. Despite Mrs. Bennet's initial disdain towards him, Mr. Collins's formal manners and flattery aimed at the daughters hint at a comical and intriguing visit.
Mr. Collins's Praise of Lady Catherine de Bourgh
Mr. Collins effusively praises Lady Catherine de Bourgh, his benefactor, highlighting her condescension and grace towards him. He admires her daughter, describing her as a charming lady despite her delicate health. Mr. Collins's exaggerated compliments and servile behavior towards Lady Catherine reflect his desire to impress her and align with her high regard.
Mr. Collins's Awkward Interactions and Backgammon
