When it comes to parenting, so many of us want to raise “good kids”. Kids who will be kind to others, who can problem-solve, kids who truly understand and act out of compassion, and who understand inclusivity, justice, and equality. But there is often a space between raising “good kids” and raising pro-justice kids. That’s where the concept of Social Justice Parenting comes in.
In this episode, we are talking with Dr. Traci Baxley, a professor, consultant, parenting coach, speaker, mother to five bi-racial children, creator of the Social Justice Parenting program and author of Social Justice Parenting: How to Raise Compassionate, Anti-Racist, Justice-Minded Kids in an Unjust World. She’s been an educator for over 30 years with degrees in child development, elementary education, and curriculum and instruction.
Dr. Baxley shares with us a very vulnerable conversation where we talk about how to address race with our kids, how to engage in Social Justice parenting, and what the ROCKS of Social Justice parenting are.
