Terror Attack in New Orleans

A terrorist attack occurred in New Orleans, where between 10 and 15 people lost their lives and around 35 were injured when a pickup truck was driven into a crowd on Bourbon Street. The perpetrator, Shamsuddin Jabbar, a 42-year old U.S. citizen and Army veteran, also fired at law enforcement after the initial crash, resulting in his death by police return fire. Investigators have found an ISIS flag in the vehicle and believe that Jabbar may not have acted alone, as they found improvised explosive devices (IEDs) both in the vehicle and around the scene. The incident has raised questions about the lack of protective barriers on Bourbon Street, particularly since repairs were ongoing at the time of the attack.
