On today’s podcast I speak with David Deal who is an intellectual property attorney specializing in copyright infringement matters on behalf of photographers and businesses throughout the US and Europe. Prior to becoming a lawyer David spent nearly 20 years working as a freelance photographer working with top publications and newspapers so he has a deep understanding of copyright issues that professional photographers deal with running a business. In this interview I speak to David about what lead him to a career in law and ways photographers can best protect their work from copyright infringement. I also speak to David about his work on the case of the late photographer Vivian Maier that he’s been working on for years.
