Shifting Trends on WeChat

Users are increasingly turning off features like WeChat Moments and WeChat Sports, a shift that reflects changing social dynamics and privacy concerns. Initially, WeChat Moments served as a platform for sharing personal updates and life highlights, akin to Facebook or Instagram feeds. However, as users became more aware of the oversharing culture and the pressure to curate an idealized image, many chose to retreat from public sharing to avoid anxiety over external validation. Likewise, WeChat Sports, which encouraged friendly competition through daily step counts, has also fallen out of favor as users feel uneasy about being judged or compared to friends based on activity levels.
