The problem of shiny object syndrome and lack of focus
Many business owners and entrepreneurs suffer from shiny object syndrome, constantly jumping between different opportunities and not sticking to one thing. This lack of focus hinders their progress and growth. The speaker shares his personal experience of being afflicted with shiny object syndrome and how it prevented him from achieving success in his business. He mentions how individuals often get excited about a new niche or opportunity, but when they realize the amount of work and learning involved, they start looking at what others are doing and get drawn towards different shiny objects. This constant cycle of distraction prevents them from achieving real progress and success.
The importance of sticking to one thing and mastering it
The speaker highlights the importance of sticking to one thing and becoming a master at it. He emphasizes that real success and significant progress come from relentless focus and constant improvement in a chosen field or niche. Using his own experience in consulting, he explains how he chose consulting as his focus and dedicated himself to mastering it. He committed to continuous learning, observing what worked and what didn't, and adapting accordingly. Over time, he started seeing progress and significant income growth. The key insight is that success comes from sustained focus and dedication to one area, rather than constantly chasing new opportunities.
Focusing on what won't change and providing value
In order to achieve long-term success, the speaker advises focusing on elements that won't change in an ever-evolving world. He highlights the importance of providing value and defines value in his consulting business as helping clients get what they want – starting their own consulting businesses, gaining clients, making money, and achieving freedom. By focusing on what won't change and delivering value, he has been able to build a successful business and help others achieve their goals. He cautions against getting caught up in hype or constantly switching paths. Instead, one should stay grounded and concentrate on mastering skills that are timeless and universally valued.
Do you struggle to stick to things and get distracted by new shiny objects? If you look back over the past month or the past year -- How many different niches, opportunities or methods have you tried? Shiny object syndrome is something that plagues most entrepreneurs and renders them helpless in their fight for success. Here's what it looks like: Somebody chooses e-commerce as their area of interest and starts learning the game, absorbing information and putting in the work...Two weeks go by, and by then, things start to look harder than they'd imagined, they start to see the real "depth" of their chosen field. At this stage, the entrepreneur loses their passion for the field and starts looking on social media to see what other people are doing. They see a guru in another field like Crypto wearing fancy watches, flying in private jets and driving nice cars -- And at this moment -- In this moment of sound-minded reason, they think to themselves: "Ahhh the reason I'm not rich yet is that I'm in the wrong field! It's not my fault, it's not the fact that I've only been doing this for two weeks -- It's because I'm trying to do e-commerce and obviously Crypto is where the money's at!". This isn't rational, it's flat out lunacy. It's the kind of shit people get put in straight jackets for. But as insane as it is -- This is the practice of 99% of entrepreneurs who are just starting out, today! If you suffer from this relentless disease, do yourself a favor and listen to this.
