Dr. Julie Gerberding is Executive Vice President and Chief Patient Officer at Merck. She is a vaccine and infectious disease expert who served as former CDC Director under President George W. Bush during my tenure in the Senate. There she led the CDC in responding to HIV/AIDS, SARS, West Nile Virus, and H5N1 avian influenza.
