Dr Thomas Seager, PhD | Cold Exposure on Resilience, Testosterone and Pair-Bonding
Dr. Thomas P Seager is an Associate Professor in the School of Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University. He is the founder of a new concept called Self-Actual Engineering that emphasises application of design principles for the top of Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Motivation, rather than the bottom. Seager is CEO of Morozko Forge ice bath company and an expert in the use of ice baths for building metabolic and psychological resilience.
If you are looking to understand why you might start cold exposure practices, this episode breaks down why we should consider it. Thomas covers male and female hormonal responses (including Testosterone Replacement Therapy and hormonal optimisation), psychological resilience, oxytocin and pair-bonding, and the relationship between vitamin D, cold exposure and the immune system. He generously shares the changes we can expect to see - physiologically, cognitively, and emotionally in response to the cold.
