Sales Maven How To Turn Your Business Vision Into Focused Action
You can be incredibly productive and still spend your time on things that aren't moving you toward the business you actually want.
This is where having a clear vision matters.
Your vision isn't something you write down once and revisit at the end of the year. It becomes a decision filter. It shows you what deserves your attention, what can wait, and what may not belong on your list at all.
In this Mastering Excellence conversation, Nikki welcomes Productivity & Results Strategist Denise Perkins to explore how you turn a business vision into focused action.
You learn how to connect your bigger vision to 90-day priorities, recognize evidence that you're making progress, and make decisions based on the business and life you're intentionally building.
The Transformation Before listening, you may find yourself:- Staying busy without knowing whether your actions support your bigger vision.
- Struggling to decide which ideas deserve your attention.
- Setting goals that feel overwhelming or difficult to implement.
- Letting the "how" stop you from getting clear about what you really want.
- Create a clearer vision for where your business is going.
- Turn long-term goals into focused 90-day priorities.
- Identify evidence that shows you're making meaningful progress.
- Use your values and personal mission to guide your decisions.
In this episode, Nikki and Denise discuss:
- Why productivity isn't about doing more.
- How your values, personal mission, and vision make business decisions easier.
- Why 90-day planning turns bigger goals into focused action.
- How defining evidence of success keeps momentum going.
- Why focusing on the "how" too early can limit your vision.
- How breaking big ideas into smaller steps gets you out of all-or-nothing thinking.
- Why knowing what restores you matters to sustainable productivity.
Denise's approach starts with getting clear about the business you actually want to build, not simply deciding what needs to get done next.
From there, you can work backward:
Vision → Annual Goal → 90-Day Focus → Action → Evidence
Your longer-term vision gives you direction. Annual goals identify what matters during this season of your business. Your 90-day priorities narrow your focus to what deserves attention now.
Then you identify the actions that move you forward and the evidence that tells you you're making progress.
Denise also encourages business owners to resist figuring out every detail of how something happens before allowing themselves to define what they want.
You don't need to create the entire course, launch the complete offer, or accomplish the full vision today.
The question becomes: What can I do in the next 90 days that moves me closer?
This approach creates progress without requiring everything to happen at once.
Productivity Is Also Knowing When to StopFocused action isn't about constantly doing more.
Denise uses her values and personal mission as filters for recognizing when the way she's working is no longer aligned with the business and life she wants.
She also identifies her "medicines," the activities and experiences that fill her up and allow her to show up well in her business.
When you know what matters to you, where you're going, and what keeps you well along the way, productivity becomes less about filling your schedule and more about being intentional with your time.
A Quote Worth Remembering"Productivity isn't about doing more. It's about being in alignment with what you're doing."
Try This This WeekChoose one goal that's currently taking up your attention and ask: How does this goal connect to the business I'm actually trying to build?
Then identify:
- The result you want to create.
- The evidence that tells you you're making progress.
- The most important action you can take in the next 90 days.
When the goal doesn't connect to your larger vision, consider whether it deserves your attention right now.
Who This Episode Is ForThis episode is especially valuable when you:
- Have plenty of ideas but struggle to decide what deserves your attention.
- Feel busy without making enough meaningful progress.
- Want a clearer connection between your long-term vision and daily actions.
- Get stuck figuring out "how" before allowing yourself to think bigger.
- Want to lead your business with more intention instead of constantly reacting.
Did today's conversation make you question whether everything on your list deserves your attention?
