Episode 12: Self-Esteem and Weight — The Connection
Self-esteem is used to describe the overall personal worth or value a person believes he or she has. The way you talk about yourself and the ways you treat yourself (your health included) tell others a lot about your sense of self-esteem or how much you appreciate and like yourself. Our self-esteem involves the beliefs we have about ourselves, to include how we appraise our own appearance, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. In today’s episode, we define self-esteem, explore how it develops, and talk about what we can do to improve those areas in our lives in which our self-esteem is hurting. Let’s work on being “good enough” and letting go of “perfection.” Let’s learn to behave in kind ways toward ourselves and say kind things to ourselves. Let’s acknowledge and celebrate our individual strengths and accept that others have their unique abilities that have no impact on our worth! And let’s improve our overall self-esteem by treating ourselves like the persons of amazing value that we are!
