3 PM ET: New DNC fencing, Gaza ceasefire talks, world’s oldest person dies & more

Additional security fencing went up outside the Democratic National Convention in Chicago after some protesters against Israel’s war in Gaza allegedly trespassed. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Qatar to try to move close to a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas. Former President Donald Trump is backing off comments he made that some interpreted as his intention to take direct control of interest rates, if he’s re-elected.
