George Karl was drafted as a fourth-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs in 1973 from the University of North Carolina.
Ten years later, at just 33 years of age, George Karl was appointed as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, making him one of the youngest head coaches in NBA history. In 2016, when Coach Carl finished his last role as a head coach in the NBA, he had been in charge for a remarkable 1,999 games, winning 1,175 times - the sixth all-time in NBA history!
Karl coached the US national team, is a four-time NBA all-star head coach, and was named the 2013 NBA coach of the year. In 2022, he was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame for his outstanding lifetime success and contribution to the sport.
