For the Sake of the World
In Matthew 28, Jesus gives a mission to all His followers—then and now—for how to live in the world, called The Great Commission. Do you know what that mission is?
In 2017, a research group called Barna asked that question to churchgoers, and the results were startling: 82% of churchgoers responded that they either didn't know or were unsure in their knowledge of The Great Commission.
If we are truly following the way of Jesus, then it requires doing everything that Jesus commanded, and it's this: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
It's living on mission, in our day-to-day going. It's taking interruptions as opportunities to make the love of God visible. It's stopping to pray, listen, and serve those far from God. It's sharing what He's doing in our lives right now.
And we do this for the sake of the world, because we're blessed to be a blessing to others.
