If you are studying for the US Citizenship Test, an American history buff, improving your English, or maybe all three, this lesson in slow English is for you. In this lesson, I talk about some of the causes of the Mexican-American War, the US president, James K. Polk, and some of the aftermath of the Mexican-American War.  Many of the soldiers who fought in this war would go on to fight in the American Civil War.   Some of the English vocabulary word I explain are: annex, independence, disputes, recognize, reelection, and campaign.
