Do you listen to every idea that pops into your head?   Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 NASB   We can't believe everything we hear or even think. Much of what we hear or think may be ideas suggested from a false spirit or teaching from a false prophet. A prophet is someone who speaks for God. False ones speak for anything else. They're aligned with the false spirits.   When God gives us an idea, it will be through a Godly messenger, either the Holy Spirit living in us, or from the Bible, or from Godly people around us. The ideas will line up with the Bible. We're told to test the sources of the information we have to see if it is from God or not.   God created you to freely choose to listen to and follow him. Often, our world, our physical bodies, and even our friends can pull us away from God. But God gives us each other to help us stay focused on him.
