Matt Piper is a former professional footballer. He represented England U21’s and played for Leicester City and Sunderland. He is the founder of FSD Academy and his book ‘Out Of The Darkness’ is about to be released. Matt is based in Leicester, UK.

Matt is a breath of fresh air, and this is an emotional, entertaining and uplifting conversation that will inspire anyone with an hour to spare!

Matt shares his excitement of proving his biggest doubter wrong and getting on ‘Match Of The Day’, his anxiety around playing Football at the top level and the impact 16 knee operations, hernias and ankle injuries had on his mental health.

We sit alongside Matt as he describes his relationships with his mother and father,  how his life spiralled out of control without purpose and how a failed suicide attempt was a seminal moment in his life, he had hit rock bottom.

The positive changes Matt has made both to his own life and that of countless young men in his Academy since the hit rock-bottom, are jaw-dropping. This is a story of a genuine guy’s journey to find purpose and help others, to come out of the darkness.
