THE INFLUENCE OF THE CONSULTING INDUSTRY ON BUSINESSES, GOVERNMENTS AND ECONOMIES
There is an entrenched relationship between the consulting industry and the way business and government are managed today.
Based on her book co-authored with Mariana Mazzucato, in this talk, Rosie Collington will explore how our economies’ reliance on companies such as McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group and Deloitte stunts innovation, obfuscates corporate and political accountability and impedes our collective mission of halting climate breakdown – and what an alternative system looks like.
Rosie Collington is a political economist based at University College London’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, where she is also completing her PhD. Alongside her academic research, she writes for and has appeared on various international media outlets including Al Jazeera, BBC Radio 4 and The Guardian.
Therese Guttmann is a socio-economist at the Ecological Economics Institute of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and conducts research on socio-ecological change. After studying economics, she worked as a consultant at Volkshilfe Austria and as a researcher at AIT.
