The Charismatic movement in the west has been marked by three distinct moves of God. Wave #1 was the Pentecostal movement. Pentecostalism was the first wave of the Spirit which broke over the church In 1906 at Azusa. Wave #2 was the charismatic movement often dated to 1959 where mainline churches encountered, what they called, "the baptism of the Spirit". From this wave emerged Charismatic Anglicans, Charismatic Lutherans, Charismatic Presbyterians, Charismatic Roman Catholics, Charismatic Methodists, and more. Wave #3 was the Neo-Charismatic wave where the gifts of the Spirit began making their way into evangelical churches. These moves of God have marked the charismatic movement, but what's The Future Of The Charismatic Movement!?
