This lecture discusses key ideas from the early 20th century weird and horror story writer, H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu", a classic work of cosmic horror and absolutely central to what will later come to be called the Cthulhu mythos. It focuses specifically on what we learn of the cult of Cthulhu (and to a lesser extent) the other Great Old Ones, which according to the information provided by Castro, has existed among human beings from the start, spurred by communications in dreams from the Old Ones and the idols of them brought down from the stars. In the story, we learn of chapters of the cult existing in Greenland, Louisiana, the mountains of China, the south seas, the deserts of Arabia, and potentially other locations.
