22 - Anne Schuchat, M.D.: CDC’s Principal Deputy Director on the Vaping Crisis

I'm excited to have Dr. Anne Schuchat of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention with us. For over four years Anne Schuchat has served as a principal deputy director of the CDC. She's played key roles in CDC emergency responses including the 2009 H1N1 pandemic influenza response. And during my own years in the Senate in Washington, the 2003 SARS outbreak in Beijing and the 2001 bio terrorist anthrax response. Globally, she's worked on meningitis, pneumonia and Ebola vaccine trials in West Africa and conducted surveillance and prevention projects in South Africa. In our conversation, we take a deep dive on the devastating vaping crisis that's affecting our youth and communities nationwide and hear how the CDC is addressing the problem.
