Paula Fontenelle, MA, was a journalist and a published author in Brazil when her father took his life in 2005. Her search for meaning in the face of this tragedy led her to make a radical career change. Today she is a psychotherapist with a Masters's degree in Clinical Mental Health and a deep dedication to reducing the enduring cultural stigma surrounding suicide.
She is the author of Understanding Suicide: Living with Loss. Paths to Prevention, which was a finalist for the Brazilian Book Award. Paula also hosts the podcast and YouTube channel "Understand Suicide," where she interviews individuals touched by suicide, mental health professionals, and specialists.
