Will we save a nation by closing borders? What in the world could possibly salvage a post-Christian Europe—where church attendance scrapes 2 percent? Half of London’s church attendees are immigrants. So how will closing the borders save the nation? Shall we surrender the culture to atheists or Muslims? Tough call. While the Scripture is strong on providing opportunities for “strangers” to engage in trade and be treated favorably under the law, the civil magistrate has a responsibility to defend the nation from criminals entering the borders. But the ultimate solutions are not so much found at the borders as much as in cleaning up our own backyard.
