15:11 (The Lord spoke...) “I REGRET having made Saul king....”
God is spirit, not human, and does not have human shortcomings. Yet, many times in the Old Testament, the human author is limited by language
God can use ANYTHING, good or bad, to advance the Kingdom. God is shown to have “regret” when he takes away the benefits to someone that he previously bestowed them to.
16:7 “Not as man sees .....but the Lord looks into the (person’s) HEART.” Regardless of anything else going on in your life, if you have a HEART for God, God can use you!
18-20 David was threatened by Saul for years, yet he continued to seek and praise God in the midst of his persecution. Psalm 59 (“your praise I will sing: you, God, are my fortress, my loving God.”) is attributed to David, who is thought to have written it during this period, when Saul tried to KILL him many times. Keep talking to God, every day!
