Nuclear Safeguards Are Gone - Former Canadian Foreign Minister Pt. 1/2

Nuclear guardrails are gone, and no one in power seems to care. In Part One of a conversation with Barry Stevens and Globe and Mail columnist Doug Saunders, Lloyd Axworthy — the former Canadian Foreign Minister who led the campaign to ban landmines — traces how the memory of nuclear danger has faded even as more countries foolishly flirt with joining the club. Deterrence, once treated as gospel, has been quietly disproven on real battlefields, yet nobody in power seems to have noticed. Axworthy warns of a world sliding back toward the bomb just as it forgets why it feared one.
