When I first stumbled across Utobits I was impressed by the art and shocked by how low the price was for their voxel-based avatars. I reached out to the team because I couldn't figure out why they were so cheap despite the quality (all of which were made by hand). What followed was a personal relationship in which I decided to help them out as much as I could. They've become friends and business partners and I figured I'd take my audience behind the scenes of an avatar project which is what this short series is about.
